How to Play Facebook Basketball with Friends on Mobile
Facebook Messenger has a little known secret game where you can shoot hoops with friends on mobile chat! It’s really easy to get started and all you need to do is make sure you have the latest version of Facebook Messenger installed on your phone.
Here are the steps you need to follow in order to start playing basketball with friends on Facebook:
Step 1: Make sure you have the most recent version of Facebook Messenger installed on your mobile device. Start a chat with a friend and find the basketball emoji:
Step 2: Add the emoji to the chat window and send it to your friend. Once it is on the screen, simply click it to start the game!
Step 3: Now that the game has begun, the real fun starts. From here, simply flick your thumb up to shoot the basketball toward the rim and try to score as many shots as you can. As you rack up points, Facebook will keep score and store it in the chat window automatically. The high score will remain in the chat window so the trash talking can continue until the next person sets the new high score!
The real challenge begins after about 10 points or so, as the rim will start to move. If you think you were good with no basket movement, you will be in for a challenge as the difficulty is increased with the moving net.
This is a great way to have fun with friends on chat and to settle the score on a bet or wager. Now that the Rio Summer Olympics are approaching, it will be interesting to see if Facebook has any plans to add additional sports related emoji games to the Messenger app. It would be fun to see ping pong, javelin, or some other creative game that would be fun to play while watching the Olympic Games in 2016.
How fun would it be if Facebook tracked high scores from around the world to see who has the highest score of all time! That would be loads of fun to follow along with and would likely increase the amount of app downloads. If they keep adding more games or make the games more advanced, it could potentially lead to a new gaming model for the platform. Think about how many sports fans use Facebook Messenger on a daily basis – a lot! They could possibly serve ads or turn it in to a very interesting revenue model, or simply just keep it as a way for everyone to have fun challenging one another to a good old game of basketball. I really hope they expand this to football, baseball, or hockey as well.
How fun would it be if one person could be the pitcher, while the other person is the batter! Only time will tell if Facebook will add any more fun emoji games to the chat interface in the near future. It seems like they are continually updating the emoji list. Stay tuned for more great games like basketball on the Messenger app.
